EMPLOYMENT
We at Camp Mercy want to do something radical: have a summer job that is intentionally striving for sainthood. Counselors will be guaranteed a fun and exciting summer, learning what it means to be a missionary for the Catholic Church right in their own backyard. We expect counselors to approach the summer with a desire to give their summer to God, to lead others to Christ while growing in their own knowledge and love of Christ and the Catholic Church's teachings, and to serve as a positive Catholic role model for the children who will be in their care.
Camp Counselors are committed to the whole Camp Mercy experience- we begin our days in prayer, we serve the children in our classes, and then we come back together each afternoon to share a meal and learn more about the faith through amazing speakers. On occasion, we may have the opportunity for Daily Mass.
Camp Mercy counselors must commit to one week of staff training (July 10-14) and all three weeks of camp. Camp hours run from 8:30am until 3pm.
VOLUNTEERING
Students entering grades 8-12 in the fall are eligible to volunteer at Camp Mercy.
Volunteers must be willing and able to commit to the hours of 8:30am – 3pm for the full week during which they would like to volunteer.
Volunteers will follow the same schedule as the instructors: opening prayer in the gym, class, group lunch, and our theology speakers. Volunteers must be agreeable to participating in the full experience, beginning with opening prayer and ending with our theology talks/discussions.
Volunteering will be done on a week-by-week basis. At the end of every week, volunteers will be evaluated by their mentor instructors and the Program Director/Assistant Directors. Volunteers with positive evaluations will be invited back.
